What does “successful” mean?

There’s this common misconception in society that the more money you have, the more successful you are. In my personal opinion, that just does not work in today’s society.

I’m not saying that adequate finances are not important, because that would make me a hypocrite as I am fortunate enough to have all my needs met. Money can solve many of the problems low-income families face, so I am not trying to diminish the importance of money.

What I’m trying to say is that there comes a point to where more money will not mean more success and more happiness. When you have enough money to afford luxuries like vacations and a good house, more of it won’t necessarily do you any good. And here is where the importance of a family comes in.

A successful life is one where you are able to balance your work and your family. You’re able to support them, you’re able to provide them with all the necessities they need and luxuries they want, and you have a loving and supporting family & friends.

So when someone brags about earning more than you, then there is no need to feel inferior if you have a balanced life. And life is not a competition; you don’t have to out-earn people to feel good about yourself.
